General information on Pool Domes
How are the Pool Domes
fixed to the ground ?
The Pool Dome is available
with two anchor systems, water tube and cable
model.
What is the water tube
anchor system ?
This consists of six inner
tubes encased in a tough reinforced outer case.
The tubes, when filled with water, act as the
anchor to keep the Pool Dome on the ground. The
water filled tubes also act as the air seal.
The maximum width of a water tube Pool Dome is
28ft.
What is the cable anchor
system ?
This consists of a plastic
coated steel cable that is welded into a
heavy-duty reinforced skirt. The Pool Dome is
secured to the ground by means of eyebolts that
are screwed into nylon plugs drilled into the
paving. The cable is attached to the anchor
bolts using marine grade stainless steel
shackles.
What models are
available ?
The deluxe model has vertical
side and end walls. This allows full walking
height within the dome. The low profile-as the
name indicates has reduced overall height. This
restricts the headroom at each side. Some
customers who wish the dome to be less
obtrusive prefer the low profile Pool
Dome.
What is the height of
the Pool Dome ?
As a rough guide the height
of a deluxe Pool Dome will be about half the
width. That is a 20ft wide Pool Dome would be
about 10ft in height. The height will vary a
little with material, temperature and width of
the dome. We can supply Pool Domes at a reduced
height if required.
When should I deflate
the Pool Dome ?
It is perfectly correct to
deflate your Pool Dome whenever you are not
using it. It is necessary for you to ensure
that the Pool Dome is deflated should severe
weather be forecast. The average sized Pool
Dome takes Between 15 and 20 minutes to
deflate. If you want to let the air out
quickly, simply hold open the zips. The Pool
Dome will take 10 to 15 minutes to
reinflate.
What colours are
available ?
The Pool Dome can be
manufactured using any of the following
materials
clear, bronze, sky blue, clear net-reinforced
and new for this year, blue tint
net-reinforced. All Pool Domes more than 28ft
wide will be made using the reinforced material
to prevent stretching.
How do I enter the Pool
Dome ?
The majority of domestic
sized Pool Domes have two access zips. The zips
can be positioned where you wish, as long as
they are not nearer than 4ft from a corner. The
zips are held in place by means of 40 reusable
plastic nuts and bolts. For larger domes of the
cable design we can supply either air lock
doors or revolving doors. These allow larger
numbers to enter or leave the dome more quickly
and are suitable for schools, hotels or holiday
parks .
How is the Pool Dome
Inflated ?
The Pool Dome is inflated
using a fan mounted in a weatherproof housing
unit. No holes need be cut in the fabric of the
dome to take the fan unit, so it can be
positioned anywhere around the dome. Our fan
units are deigned not to over inflate the pool
dome. And the running cost of our fan unit is a
little more than a 100-watt light
bulb.
Can the Pool Dome be
repaired ?
You are able to repair small
holes or tears using a pool liner repair kit.
For larger tears the Pool Dome can be repaired
on site using our portable welding machine.
This can reduce the inconvenience of having to
remove the dome from site and can usually be
repaired in a day, subject to weather
conditions and extent of damage.
What about building
control and planning approval ?
Air supported structures are
specifically excluded from Building Control
Regulations. Planning Approval may sometimes be
required.
